Businessman Cain loses his job and is sitting on a park bench deeply depressed because his life has no meaning anymore. The angel Gabrielle appears to comfort him, and he is immediately smitten with her. His reaction confuses her, and, although she finds him very sweet, she knows that romantic love has no place in an angels life, and she instantly disappears. He is completely devastated, and she feels so bad for him that she once again appears to try to give him some comfort. He is overjoyed and clutches her to keep her from leaving again, but she slips right through his arms. This devastates him even further, and he remains on the bench for days on end, not having the heart to leave the place where she was with him, and hoping against hope that she might return. As his strength and his hope weans, he pays to have her back. To his astonishment, in the next instant, something white plummets from the sky and crashes into the ground next to him. It turns out to be Gabrielle, sans wings. She explains that she has been watching him and grieving for his pain, and that with his prayer, she was finally allowed to fall from grace, giving up her divinity and immortality to be with him. They kiss, and then walk into the future hand in hand.

(Oh, and the kissy picture with the wings is not a continuity error. It’s to show that although she might have chosen humanity, she’s still an angel at heart.)
